Case study - Professional online training for Fluidda, world leader in Functional Respiratory Imaging
Fluidda, world leader in the field of Functional Respiratory Imaging (FRI), asked Acco Learn for Business to look after its online training activities. To this end, in close consultation with Fluidda, Acco Learn for Business developed a blended learning experience, consisting of a digital learning path in combination with a face-to–face meeting between trainer and learner. This learning experience is more user-friendly, means that the trainer no longer needs to be there on the spot, and provides more research locations at the same time for such training purposes. Not only does it lead to savings in time and money for Fluidda, but it also makes it easier to scale up the training.

Fluidda is world leader in the field of Functional Respiratory Imaging (FRI). Thanks to use of the innovative technique ‘Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis’, Fluidda has succeeded in optimising clinical processes and in assisting doctors in both the diagnosis and the recovery of the airways, thus reducing significantly the period of illness.
What problems did Fluidda face?
Fluidda’s request was for the organisation of new, online training activities in FRI. Previously, an FRI trainer would spend half a day in the hospital or medical practice training medical professionals in situ. However, these research centres are scattered across the globe, which means that travel to and from these locations is a time-consuming business. What’s more, the entire team at the site needs to be available at the moment the trainer is present, which is not always a given. In addition, the different trainers give their sessions in different ways, so the need for a streamlined approach became all the more pressing. Finally, demand for clinical studies using FRI underwent a significant increase, making it difficult to provide each location with effective training in the short term.
What was Acco Learn’s solution?
To this end, in close consultation with Fluidda, Acco Learn developed a blended learning experience, consisting of a digital learning path in combination with a face-to-face meeting between trainer and learner.
The digital learning path became integrated in the online learning platform, Sofia. This platform gives Fluidda the option to provide a digital training course, consisting of text, recordings and screencasts. Acco Learn assisted Fluidda in structuring the content, adding didactic elements which make learning easier. Furthermore, Acco Learn provided the necessary support for the production of video recordings and screencasts. Thanks to the learning analytics, which can be easily retrieved via Sofia, the trainer can keep a close track of whether training sessions are being properly followed and identify any possible problems. Thanks to the face-to-face contact via the webcam, these problems can more easily be solved.
What is the result?
Following intense collaboration, a professional online training programme evolved. Users see the training as structured and the platform as user-friendly. They now have the possibility to follow the training in their own tempo and to repeat or refresh new fragments, wherever necessary. The trainer no longer needs to be there on the spot, saving Fluidda considerable time and money. Additionally, this digital training makes it possible to provide effective training to different research locations at the same time, in turn allowing Fluidda to further scale up its operations.
