Make your manuscript an inspiring publication, with Acco’s expert support.
Author at Acco Learn
As an author, you can count on us for expert and dedicated guidance every step of the publishing process.
The publishing process from A-Z
-
Welcome to Acco! Together with your publisher, you conceptualise your learning solution – book, digital tool or a combination of physical and online. The first step in the publishing process has been taken.
-
In the author guidelines you will find the practical arrangements: How do you deliver your manuscript? What images will be included? Are there any points of attention for the design? Your publication will get an ISBN number. And you can start writing.
-
Your manuscript is finished? Fantastic! The project coordinator makes sure your manuscript is ready for publication. You get to see a first layout, and we already give you a preview of the cover and flap text.
-
Is your publication completely ready for printing? Then we send it on to Print & Productions, where it will be professionally printed.
-
You will receive the first copies of your printed publication from us. Exciting, because it’s the first time you actually have your book in your hands. The marketing department begins the promotion.
-
Our team distributes your book to bookstores, making sure it is available on or offline.
-
Is a reprint needed? Or does something need to be adjusted in your existing publication? Your project coordinator will discuss it with you and take care of the adjustments.
You also receive an author’s fee each year. -
Has your publication been in circulation for a while and Acco decides not to print any more copies, or is it time for a new edition? If so, the project coordinator will contact you to discuss options.
Promoting your publication? Let’s do this together!
As an expert and author, you are the best ambassador of your publication. Our marketing team will advise and assist you in promoting your publication.

In this video tutorial (in Dutch), we show you step by step how to digitally sign your publishing agreement via DocuSign.

Your editor is your point of contact during the first phase of the publishing process. After that, your project coordinator takes over. He or she is your contact during the writing, realization, and production phases. Your project coordinator will review your manuscript, take care of the design and manage the planning of your project. You can find the contact details of our publishers here.
Our colleagues responsible for contracts and author fees will help you with your questions about your author fees after the publication of your publication. You contact them at auteursvergoeding@acco.be.
The Acco bookstores take care of the distribution of your publication. Contact them at orders@acco.be.
-
Your author contract is the agreement between you, any co-authors and Acco Learn. In it we regulate exploitation and copyright rights.
You will also find information in it about the arrangement of our collaboration, such as the timing of delivery of your manuscript, corrections to proofs, the exploitation of your publication, author’s compensation and reprints.
We will draw up a new contract if we rework your publication and
the title changes
the composition of the author group changes
there is a change in the distribution of the author’s remuneration
